LayTec is a major provider of in-situ and in-line optical metrology for thin-film processes. These metrology tools are used in a broad range of thin-film applications such as LED & LASER production, thin-film photovoltaics, oxide and organic deposition as well as other large area deposition processes. LayTec’s integrated metrology provides access to all key thin-film parameters in real-time – either in-situ, during the deposition process, or in-line. Recently, also in-situ metrology tools for dry etching have been added expanding LayTec’s portfolio along the production chain. Beyond these integrated methods, LayTec also offers mapping solutions which ideally complement in-situ measurements by providing uniformity analysis of the deposited layers. The implementation of LayTec metrology systems in production processes significantly shortens development cycles and enables an efficient quality control that helps to considerably reduce production and development costs.
Our expertise in optics, electronics and software engineering goes hand-in-hand with our in-depth process knowledge. We offer our customers a competent and reliable partnership in all sectors:
We share our expertise in data analysis through training sessions, seminars and consultancy and thereby support our customers in getting the most out of our instruments.
Founded in 1999 as a spin-off of TU Berlin, LayTec has quickly become the world market leader in the field of in-situ metrology for LED and LASER production by means of metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), which is nowadays also used for depositing for state-of-the art power devices based on gallium nitride and silicon carbide.
In 2008, LayTec started to market its proven expertise for R&D and industrial applications beyond the semiconductor industry: we developed advanced in-line metrology solutions for large-area deposition techniques such as amorphous, polycrystalline and organic thin-films in PV and display industries.
In 2009, 2010, and 2011, LayTec was ranked as one of the 50 fastest-growing technology companies in Germany. In 2011, LayTec acquired the assets of the former competitor ORS (Optical Reference Systems), which is now LayTec UK. The new subsidiary adds further valuable technologies to LayTec metrology portfolio.
In 2018, LayTec joined the Nynomic AG company portfolio – a unique opportunity to combine its experience and expertise with the resources and innovative strength of the Nynomic Group.
Today, the company has more than 3500 metrology systems installed at customer sites around the world. LayTec offers a worldwide customer support and service network including local representatives.
